Knights of Columbus Council 1459 lends its support the Catholic Church, youth, and charitable institutions in the Muenster community. These are some of the ways the our council supports the Church and community.
Our Lenten Fish Fries are popular in the community and are one of the ways our council raises funds to support charitable causes in the community.
Through the Knights of Columbus Refund Support Vocation Program (RSVP), local councils "adopt" seminarians and provide them with financial assistance and moral support. Council 1459 currently supports five Diocese of Fort Worth seminarians. Our council also donates annually to the Disclaced Carmelite Nuns of the Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity.
Our council supports pro-life causes in the community. Members participate in local pro-life marches. We donate funds to a local crisis pregnancy center. Each January in conjunction with the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, our council places a red rose upon the church altar in memory of the victims of abortion and passes out pro-life prayer cards, asking parishioners to pray for a culture of life.
Our council supports the Catholic Church and its ministries, including Catholic education. Our council provides financial support to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
Our council annually donates funds to the Muenster Public Library which are used to purchase Catholic books and media.
For nearly a half-century, our council has put on a 5K and 15K race that draws nearly 1000 runners annually. The event is one of the ways the council raises funds to support charitable causes in the community.
Each year, the council awards scholarships to four graduating seniors from local high schools.
Our council provides support for the youth of the Muenster Community through its support of summer youth ball leagues and Friends of Muenster. The council also conducts an annual free throw competition for youth ages 9-14.
Our council donates to support the Guadalupe Radio Network and EWTN.
Our council conducts annual raffles to raise money that benefits our Catholic Church, Catholic school, food bank, and other local charities.
